Case Study: Our Lady of the Visitation School

Client: Mossop Builders

Location: Taperoo, South Australia

System Integrator: Energize Integration

Project Stats:

  • 6 X zencontrol Application Controller
  • 27 X zencontrol Switches
  • 45 X zencontrol Sensors

Completed in 2024, the Stage 2 development at Our Lady of the Visitation formed part of the school’s ambitious Master Plan, creating a modern and functional environment for students. The project added new classrooms, breakout and quiet spaces, and upgraded amenities designed to foster creativity.

Our partners at Energize Integration delivered a zencontrol DALI-2 lighting control system that provides both intelligent operation and long-term flexibility. With occupancy and daylight sensors across classrooms and shared spaces, lighting use is automatically adjusted to suit activity, improving comfort while significantly reducing energy consumption.

Using DALI-2 also future-proofs the school. As a globally standardised open protocol, it creates an ecosystem of interoperable products from multiple vendors, avoiding vendor lock-in and ensuring long-term availability of components.

This project marked a milestone for Energize Integration as their first solo zencontrol installation. Having completed our DALI-2 training beforehand, the team applied their knowledge with confidence to deliver a reliable and efficient system for the school.

Project Stats:

  • 69 X zencontrol Application Controllers
  • 150 X zencontrol Sensors
  • 220 X zencontrol Switches
  • 1000+ X DALI Lights

“I appreciated the ease of commissioning zencontrol via a mobile, it was much more convenient than carrying around a laptop to flash and commission DALI light fittings.”

  • Carle Baker, Lighting Control Specialist LUX Automation

The new Qantas Group Flight Training Facility (QGFTF) in Sydney, developed by LOGOS Property Group, is set to become a leading centre for pilot and cabin crew training. Spanning 7,000m² over three floors, it will feature eight full-motion flight simulators, including one for the Airbus A350, along with advanced training devices, emergency procedures equipment, and classrooms.

A standout feature is the DALI lighting system, providing exceptional energy efficiency. In this zencontrol project, a key requirement was the use of Clipsal Iconic switchplates. LUX Automation expertly wired 220 Iconic slave mechs to zc-switches, meeting the brief with precision.

Set to open in early 2024, the facility will train up to 4,500 Qantas and Jetstar pilots and cabin crew annually, supporting Qantas' growth plans.
