The NSW Maitland Workplace Hub is a major government workplace development providing a modern, future-ready headquarters for the NSW Government Property department. As a flagship public-sector facility, the project demanded a lighting control system aligned with NSW Government standards while delivering strong energy efficiency and long-term flexibility. Our partners at AutoM8 implemented a building-wide zencontrol DALI-2 system across all workspaces.
The installation covers 1,409 DALI luminaires managed by 32 application controllers, with 303 occupancy sensors ensuring lights are active only when spaces are in use across open-plan offices, meeting rooms and shared areas. A standout element of this project is the integration of 216 DALI emergency lighting devices within the same control system, enabling testing and compliance monitoring through the DALI network rather than a separate platform, simplifying maintenance and reducing the ongoing burden for facility managers. Two wireless application controllers were also deployed, providing additional flexibility during commissioning and future changes.
DALI-2 was selected because it meets NSW Government standards and provides an open, interoperable platform suited to long-term public-sector buildings. zencontrol was chosen for its DALI-2 compliance, ease of commissioning and scalability. The Maitland Workplace Hub sets a strong benchmark for government workplace lighting, demonstrating how a unified DALI lighting control system can deliver energy efficiency, compliance and operational simplicity across a large, complex building.
