Woy Woy’s historic “Old Pub” has long been a fixture of the local community, and its major renovation set out to modernise the venue while respecting its heritage character, with original cladding, cornices and brickwork all preserved. Our partners at Tech On Tap, working alongside R&B Electrical and builder Mammoth Projects, delivered a zencontrol DALI-2 lighting system that met those constraints without compromise.
The system combines wired DALI for the main venue areas with DALI+ wireless used to reach a light in a heritage-sensitive zone where new cabling simply wasn’t possible. Scene control and smooth dimming operate across bar, dining and entertainment zones, with the full system integrated into the hotel’s AV platform, allowing staff to trigger lighting modes and adjust scenes directly through their existing AV interface. Back-of-house areas use automated lighting for efficiency and staff safety.
zencontrol was chosen for its ease of deployment, flexibility and strong AV integration capability. The combination of wired and wireless DALI made it possible to deliver a complete, modern lighting solution in a building where traditional cabling approaches would have caused damage or disruption. The Woy Woy Hotel is a great example of how DALI-2 can bring a heritage venue firmly into the present without leaving a mark on what makes it worth preserving.
