The $115 million redevelopment of the Maryborough District Hospital delivers a modern, sustainable healthcare facility for Victoria’s Goldfields region. Our partners at Voltech Automation supplied and commissioned a fully integrated zencontrol DALI-2 lighting control system throughout the hospital, covering clinical, public and administrative areas. The system was wired by Eascom Electrical.
The installation features occupancy-based and daylight-responsive control, ensuring areas are lit only when required. Touchscreen panels and intuitive smart switches allow staff to adjust lighting zones and scenes with ease. BACnet integration links the DALI-2 network directly to the hospital’s Building Management System, providing centralised control, real-time fault reporting and improved maintenance efficiency for the operations team. A standout feature is the colour-changing entrance lighting, currently set to a calming purple, reinforcing a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. Emergency lighting, energy data and diagnostics are also integrated across the network.
DALI-2 was chosen for its reliability, open standard and interoperability. In a healthcare environment where uptime is critical, real-time feedback, automated fault reporting and centralised diagnostics are essential. The system is scalable for future expansion, and its BMS connectivity gives the hospital’s facilities team the visibility they need to maintain a complex, high-demand environment efficiently. The Maryborough District Hospital redevelopment is a strong example of how DALI-2 can meet the sustainability, compliance and human experience requirements of modern healthcare.
