FB Rice’s new Sydney office is a modern commercial fitout designed by Unispace and delivered by our partners at Ekeohm, featuring a zencontrol DALI-2 lighting system tailored to the varied demands of a professional workspace. The installation combines wired DALI control with selective use of DALI+ wireless inside the open office lighting panels, a practical choice that supports flexible layout reconfiguration without requiring additional cabling or electrical modifications.
Meeting rooms and boardrooms run on scheduled timers with wired sensors and switches, while the kitchen and breakout areas operate on daytime timers that transition to motion detection after hours. Front-of-house lighting follows the same after-hours logic, ensuring energy is used only where and when it is needed. The open office benefits from the flexibility of DALI+ wireless, allowing lighting zones to adapt as the workspace evolves without rewiring. All areas are integrated with the building’s BMS for centralised monitoring and long-term maintainability.
DALI was chosen for its ability to manage different lighting types and control strategies, including timers, motion sensing and manual switching, on a single platform. zencontrol’s DALI-2 certification provides future-proofing and open interoperability, ensuring the system can grow with FB Rice’s needs. This project is a clear example of how DALI lighting control and zencontrol support flexible, energy-efficient design in a contemporary commercial fitout.
